Several months ago, I was going through a tough few months, even struggling to write. And then I read this verse one morning – “This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). But I didn’t feel much like rejoicing, and I didn’t feel much like praying. If you have ever felt like this, then watch this video.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about God’s truth for all of us to be encouraged by. God’s Word is truth, and it is our hope, even our lifeline when things happen in our lives that we could not have anticipated. I think that sharing this message is going to bring healing to many. Thanks again, and may God abundantly bless you!
Very nicely said! Thanks for sharing and for your great honesty and vulnerability! God bless you abundantly.
I have also found that when I am struggling with something in my life that if I begin to worship the Lord through singing, music, my spirit lifts and I begin to see God – hope gets restored to me. Then the issue I have is so small compared to His Majesty and I know He is holding me. The problem may still be there but my focus is on Him – the one who holds the answer.
Thanks Cheryl for your comment. Yes, when I sing, it is true that it can be uplifting, especially since it focuses me on God. I just listened to a song called Sing on the Battlefield by Kathryn Scott. Check it out on YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyVP1ImEj9s. God bless you.
Hi Bill, thank you for exposing your deep thoughts and feelings and also for referring that wonderful rendition of Hallelujah. Cheryl, I love what you said. I identified with that after recently joining a church choir after leaving another a few years ago, a church all about money. I had been feeling empty, like something was missing and discovered a pianist friend of mine was directing the choir in another church, one I had often thought of visiting. It was like God took my hand and led me there. I discovered warm, loving, real people and a void has been filled.
I get it, Bill. I’m a a Victim and survivor, but through my love and faith in God, I rose from the depths of despair. I don’t have a lot of money or things but I don’t need them, nor validation. Love of the beauty of the earth and God puts a song in my heart and I play and sing to him with a renewed spirit. I pray you feel that way again soon. And you will. Remember, God walks by our side especially in times of fear, loss and emptiness. And once you’ve reached the bottom and you feel all is lost you will be lifted up by Him. He answers our prayers.
And yes, whatever “kills you” does make you stronger. But you already know all that. This is simply a friendly reminder.
Love and light my friend…
You are a survivor; not everyone is. I wrote this several months ago because so many people succumb to their woes and stay down for a long while. And because it exposed my weakness as a human being, I shelved it, mostly due to pride. Several months later, a few of my friends convinced me that I should post it since it would be an encouragement to others who also experienced grief. I am now high and lifted up, but all of us, because of our human frailty, feel the weight of despair at times. This is natural as it was also with Elijah and King David and Jesus. I know a little bit about your story, and can only say that I am pleased that you have found solace in God and that He is your refuge in times of trouble. I wrote a song called We Cry Of/In Quiet Faithfulness (https://inspirationandhope.org/2016/06/11/we-cry-of-in-quiet-faithfulness/). I think it tells your story, as it also does mine. Have a listen, won’t you?
